Entry 6 - Embracing a Famous Role Model: Why You Should Follow in Their Footsteps

Image
Have you ever created a habit or took action upon something because of a famous person you look up to? In this world there are so many influential people out there who inspire others in their own special way. Whether you look up to Hellen Keller for defying the odds, or Martin Luther King Jr. for trying to make a difference in his community, there is a long list of people who have made a difference in the lives of others.  Since I grew up a Seahawks fan, I've always paid more attention to the lives of the players on the team. One player in particular that stuck out to me, however, is their former quarterback Russell Wilson. The reason he fascinated me so much was due to his mentality. One quality he has is that he is not a quitter. He is always hyping up his team when their on the sidelines, even if their losing. The way he rallies his team and get them in the spirit demonstrates real leadership. Not only is he an inspiration on the field, but he is also a great person off the fie...

Entry 5 - Furry Friends: My Love for Dogs

Image
Do you happen to be someone who is missing out on owning a dog? Yes? Well, I have another question for you. Why would you do that to yourself? Dogs are such great companions to have. There are millions of different breeds to choose from, so finding the one for you shouldn't be hard at all! Owning a dog may not be suitable for everyone, but there are numerous benefits you could enjoy if you ever decide to change your mind! Being a dog owner is a very common thing in the United States. Nearly 50% of all households across the country have at least one dog. The current household dog population in the U.S is estimated at 89 million. Now that's a lot of furry friends out there! On the other hand, there are about 3.3 million dogs in shelters every year. While some of these dogs eventually get adopted, the ones who don't are needlessly killed. Wouldn't it make you feel good to know that you were the one who saved a life, AND made a new friend at the same time? There are man...

Entry 4 - My Aspiration: Helping Others Feel Like Their Best Selves

Image
The Inspiration Athletics have been a calling of mine ever since I was a little boy. I've participated in any sport you can think of, whether it was for fun or competition. When you are participating in any type of physical activity, there is always the risk of injuring yourself. I've had my fair share of injuries throughout my athletic career. From a dislocated shoulder to shin splints, I have definitely dealt with some injuries from time to time, and let me tell you, none of them were fun to deal with. I dislike the fact that getting hurt is so common, but at the end of the day, it is inevitable. One day I want to be able to help others who have gotten hurt and help them get back to 100%. This is why I would like to become a physical therapist one day.  The Career You will most likely have an encounter with a physical therapist at some point in your lifetime. You will most likely have to visit one if you had just recently had surgery, had some sort or accident, or hurt you...

Entry 3 - The Seattle Seahawks: The Facts and the Fandom

Image
Watching football is an awesome hobby for anyone who is seeking some excitement on the weekends. The thrill you get while rooting for your team to win is exhilarating! Watching the pros make big plays and contest in close games will really have you jumping out of your seat. Fans who watch football most likely have a specific team that they root for. Whether it's because of where you're from, a family tradition, or just because you like the team, having a favorite team is essential for getting the best experience out of watching the games. For me, my team of choice is the Seattle Seahawks , and I'd love to share some facts about them and why they're my favorite. The Facts The Seahawks were introduced to the NFL in 1976 as an NFC west expansion team. In 1983, the Seahawks played in their first playoff game and won against the Denver Broncos. They sadly did not make it to the Super Bowl this year. In 2005, the team finally made it to their first Super Bowl. They played...

Entry 2 - Running the Extra Mile: A Journey through Track and Field

Image
Growing up, I always had a passion to run. If I was at the park, I was running around with my friends playing freeze tag. If I was playing a sport, I always played the position that involved the most running. In football, I played wide receiver; and when I played baseball, my favorite thing to do was hit the ball and start taking off towards each base. I feel like you're starting to understand what I'm getting at. When high school came around, there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to join the school track and field team. Joining this sport was such a no brainer, not only because of my passion for running, but I also knew I would develop new skills, become more disciplined, and learn to block out the noise. On top of this, there are so many different events you can participate in, so if I ended up not wanting to run, I didn't have to. Track and field is split up into two different type of main events. You have track events , which consist of sprinting, long distance, ...
